This project is technically some of the oldest work on this site. I started this project in a illustration class at Cornish College of the Arts back in 2014. The original designs were watercolor/photo-collage coaster designs for a fictional bar. At the time I fairly unsatisfied with the result, but was still learning photoshop techniques and was too busy with other school work to push the designs or the concept any further.

In spring of 2018 I was inspired to start trying my hand at illustration again and this project was a natural choice to revive. Even in the initial planning of the project I knew that I wanted the designs to mimic cautions signs, so I remade them in the bold yellow and black that we are familiar with. I’ve even had one made into a physical object with aluminum and reflective vinyl.

Ultimately, this project is part of a larger body of work that is evolving into a mixed-media assemblage and tech art installation, but more on that later. Stay tuned!
